Hello my lovely readers, today I’m back to my usual posting routine with a post about a range that has just launched in Romania – the L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay range, created for the oily hair. I bought the products this summer when I was in Ireland (you cannot imagine my excitement when I saw an entire range dedicated to the oily hair, my main hair problem) and tested them for several months so now I can share with you my impression on almost all the products in the range.
The L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay range uses the combined power of 3 refined clays into hair products to combat excessive oil production at the roots, but also dehydration throughout the lengths and ends.
Clays have been used in beauty rituals for thousands of years because they are known to cleanse, purify and energise the skin. All the products of the L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay range are infused with 3 refined clays :
KAOLINITE (WHITE CLAY) with a light and smooth texture, it has extraordinary oil-absorbing properties.
MONTMORILLONITE (BLUE CLAY) with a smooth, water-absorbing texture.
ARGILANE (GREEN CLAY) is contains soft, slippery, microscopic balls that have remarkable cleansing and water-absorbing powers.
With this unique blend of clays, the range provides a complete solution for combination to oily hair, leaving the hair clean and perfectly balanced. The L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay range contains several products that perfectly complement each other to achieve the desired effect.
The Elvive Extraordinary Clay Pre-Shampoo Masque
Unattractive, greasy hair is caused by oil on the scalp and roots. This pre-shampooing mask promises 72 hours of deeply purified roots and hydrated ends by instantly absorbing oil and impurities for a deeply cleansed scalp and light and lifted hair roots.
Directions for use:
• Before shampooing, apply this sumptuous texture delicately onto dry roots using your fingertips. Massage the clay into the scalp, section by section until you’ve covered the entire scalp.
• Leave for up to 5 minutes to deeply absorb excess oil and impurities.
• Rinse out the clay whilst massaging the scalp until the water runs clear.
This mask is the best product from the entire range! The mask contains 150 ml of products and has a valability of 12 months. I tend to have very oily roots (in the hotter period I wash the hair in the morning, by evening my roots are already oily) and I have to wash my hair pretty often or use dry shampoo (I cannot live without it).
I used it as per the instructions and indeed it works magic! My roots are becoming oilier less frequently and therefore I extended my time between washes a bit. I really love the clean, fresh feeling I have in my scalp and hair after using the mask and shampoo.
I did not have any scalp reactions to it like itching, my hair and scalp feel cleansed and refreshed. You can see the ingredients below :
You can find it in stores at the price of 40 ron/ 6 pounds. Is it worth it ? Yes, I love it, it made my hair and roots less oily and I am sure that it will work even better if used with all the products in the range. From me it gets an A.
The Elvive Extraordinary Clay Re-Balancing Shampoo
This shampoo combats a problem that all of us with oily hair have : the roots and hair are greasy so we increase the washing to combat it. But over-washing makes the hair dry and does not solve the problem of the greasy roots. This shampoo is created to rebalance the hair by deeply purifying the scalp and roots for 72 hours while hydrating the dry hair ends. The hair will feel revitalized, soft and shiny.
Directions for use:
After using Extraordinary Clay Pre-Shampoo Masque, apply onto wet hair, gently massaging into the scalp, then rinse.
The shampoo comes in two sized 200ml and 400 ml and has a valability of 12 months. I used it after the mask and it cleansed well the hair and roots removing all the mask and other impurities.
My hair felt very cleansed, refreshed and happy. It also did not caused me any scalp reactions. It is a good shampoo for the combination to oily hair. If your hair is not very oily you can only use the shampoo and conditioner. For a very oily hair and scalp it works much better used with the mask. You can see the ingredients below :
You can find it in stores at the price of aprox. 22 ron/2.90 pounds – 250ml; 29 ron/ 3.50 pounds – 400ml. Is it worth it ? From me it gets an A (good shampoo for combination to oily hair, it works very well with the mask in balancing the very oily hair).
If you have dandruff besides the oily hair, there is also a shampoo for you in the range – the Elvive Extraordinary Clay Anti-Dandruff Shampoo which promises to combat the oiliness and dryness of the hair and also to fight the appearance of dandruff for flake-free hair from the scalp up.
I don’t know if this shampoo is available in Romania, online you can find it at the price of 2.90 pounds – 250ml and 4 pounds – 400ml.
Unfortunately I haven’t bought the Elvive Extraordinary Clay Re-Balancing Conditioner, I was in a hurry at the store and I thought that the mask is used as a conditioner so I didn’t buy it. The conditioner also works well with the shampoo and mask to balance the scalp and nourish the dry hair ends. It comes in two sizes 250 ml – 22 ron/2.90 pounds and 400 ml – 3.50 pounds.
The Elvive Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo
This dry shampoo was the second product I wanted to try from this range apart from the mask. It promises instantly clean and freshly lifted hair. The micro-clays absorb excess oil from the roots to help extend that feeling of fresh hair for one more day. It is recommended to use between regular shampooing to extend the feeling of freshness to the hair. Apply throughout the day or before a night out to give your hair a fresh boost of volume.
Directions for use :
Shake well before use and then spray 15 cm from the hair, focusing on the roots. Leave for 2 minutes and brush out lightly.
I admit I had quite high expectations from this dry shampoo since it is part of a range created especially for oily hair. I used it as per the instructions and I like it. If well brushed it does not leave white residue in the hair (I am a dark brunette) and it absorbs the oil from the roots. It does not give volume to the hair. This is its only fault. I have thin, soft hair that lacks volume and I want my dry shampoo to absorb the oil from my roots and give the hair volume and oompf.
You can find it in stores at aprox. 20 ron/4 pounds per 150 ml of product. From me it gets a -A grade (it did absorb well the oil from the roots but it did not give volume to my hair).
All in all, I really like the new L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay range for combination to oily hair. I have been a faithful user of the L’Oréal Paris shampoos for a long time and I am really glad I have a range created especially for my oily hair. I am definitely going to repurchase all of the products from the range (including the conditioner) to use them in tandem for the maximum effect over a longer period of time. Tell me What would you like to try from this new range ? Until next time, Love, M
