Hello my lovely readers today I’m back with a first impressions post – I tested the latest releases by Guerlain in a make-up look – so I’m sharing with you my impressions on the products I’ve tried. I am relatively new to Guerlain but it is becoming more and more a favourite of mine. When I saw that Marionnaud was hosting these make-up sessions by Guerlain I was really happy!
A make-up session in a perfumery or beauty shop is the perfect opportunity to try on yourself the latest releases and to see if they work for your skin type and tone, if the products are long-lasting or pigmented or if they can cause skin reactions. Even so, if there are high-end products! Personally, I really like to research shades and high-end products and try them if I can, before buying them. It saves money and time and you can be sure that the products are the right ones for you and that they complement you and make you look gorgeous!
My Guerlain make-up look was a lilac themed one with a touch more colour on the lips. I had previously cleansed and moisturized the skin, so the lovely Aura, the make-up artist, used the Abeille Royale Honey Nectar Lotion to instantly soothe and hydrate my skin, preparing it for the make-up.
She started with the eyes, priming them with the Precious Light Rejuvenating Illuminator pen to erase my dark areas and by illuminating them, my eyes looked uplifted and rested. Then she used the shades from Écrin 6 Couleurs Precious Eyeshadows in Boulevard du Montparnasse, a gorgeous light to dark lilac/lavender palette. She used the medium lilac shade all over the lid, the lightest to illuminate under the eyebrows and in the inner corner of the eyes and the darkest of all in the outer corner blended into the crease.
I liked very much the illuminating pen, it reduced and illuminated my dark circles and did not crease. It lasted very well until I removed the make-up in the evening. The eye shadow palette is beautiful. The lilac shades complement my green eyes and make them stand out. The texture of the eye shadow is incredibly fine and silky smooth. They are scented in the specific Guerlain scent which I love. The eye make-up lasted very well without creasing on my hooded and very oily lids. They are now definitely on my To Buy list! The eye make-up was completed with two coats of the Maxi Lash So Volume Intense Volume, Deep black mascara, which made my lashes look elongated and thick, beautifully complementing the eye look.
Then, she moved on to the face, starting with the base, she applied the newly lauched Météorites Baby Glow in Clair, giving my face a luminous, perfecting veil that erases signs of fatigue and shows the natural glow of the complexion. It felt incredibly light on the skin, I didn’t feel it at all. It made my skin smooth and velvety and healthy. She set it with powder, then she applied the Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder for a touch of colour.
Last but not least, was the star of this make-up look and the product I wanted to try the most : the La Petite Robe Noire Lipstick. I wanted to try these gorgeous lipsticks since I found out about them to see if they were as beautiful as they looked. I selected a warmer shade – Coral Collar, a shade I knew, was right for me.
What can I say? I’m in love! It has a very light-weight texture that feel comfortable on the lips making them look luscious and kiss-ready! It feels like a thin film on the lips and can be very buildable for a more intense, bold look. If you like a discrete, sheer make-up one layer is enough, if you want more colour add another layer. And of course, let’s not forget that all La Petite Robe Noire Lipsticks are discretely scented in the specific violet Guerlain scent that I adore.
In conclusion, I really recommend you to go and try the latest releases from Guerlain in the stores (and in a Guerlain make-up look if there are make-up sessions), they are gorgeous, great-quality products that are really worth buying. Until now I haven’t met a Guerlain product I didn’t like. And that’s bad for my wallet! I spent a very pleasant afternoon in Guerlain universe and I only want to discover it more! Until next time, Love, M
