FARMEC. I don’t think there is a Romanian out there who doesn’t know who FARMEC is, or who doesn’t have at least one product from the brand in the house. As its name suggests FARMEC has bewitched us with all its wonderful products of great quality, resulted from over 120 years of research (starting with prof. dr. Ana Aslan) and all at a very convenient price.
Started more than 120 years ago, FARMEC activity is well-known nowadays,
both in Romania and worldwide, our company’s products being exported in
countries from Europe, Asia and North America.
The company’s modern history begins in 1967, when FARMEC became
the first manufacturer of Gerovital H3 prof. Dr. Ana Aslan creams and
emulsions in Romania. The products were addressed to women in
their 40s, when the skin shows the first signs of ageing. Today FARMEC
produces over 400 cosmetic products, covering a large range of usage.
The originality and quality of FARMEC products was officially
recognised in 2002 when the company was granted the International
Quality Certificate ISO 9001:2008.
Nowadays, the company’s portfolio sums up hundreds of products, the most
famous ranges of products being GEROVITAL H3 prof. dr. Ana Aslan,
GEROVITAL H3 EVOLUTION, GEROVITAL PLANT, ASLAVITAL, FARMEC, ASLAMED,
DOINA, ATHOS and OBSESIE.
Here is FARMEC’s story :
1889 – The successful story of Farmec Company begins – it is the first and most
important Romanian company of cosmetic products – when Molnar Moser
laboratories are created in Budapest.
1943 – A small laboratory – Mol-Mos – stands out and carries its activity in Cluj-Napoca.
1965 – Doina Milk is produced for the first time. It continues to be the best sold make-up remover on the Romanian market, with a quantity share of 17.32%. (Nielsen, 2010)
1967-68 – Liviu Turdean becomes the Manager and the factory obtains an important
achievement – it becomes the first manufacturer of Gerovital H3 prof.
Dr. Ana Aslan creams and emulsions in Romania. The products were
addressed to women around the age of 40, to skins showing the first
signs of ageing.
1969 – Premiere in Romania – it begins the manufacturing of spray-shaped products.
1970 – It begins the development of the most important platform of cosmetic products manufacturing in Romania.
2000 – The company’s own network distribution is created, developed at a national level, coordinated throughout the representations and work points from the main cities in Romania.
2001 – The first range with clay is launched – Aslavital. The Clay used in this range comes from the Pădurea Craiului Mountains
and has in its composition no less than 20 oligoelements (Fe, Ca, Mg,
Cu, Zn, etc.).
2003 – Farmec Park is inaugurated. It is located on 68-70 București street in Cluj-Napoca city.
2004 – Gerovital Plant range is modernized, following the trends of natural cosmetics of that period, “colorants” free, the cream’s initial colour being green.
2006 – The new Gerovital H3 prof. dr. Ana Aslan brand is launched.
Gerovital H3 range is the cosmetic version of Prof. Dr. Ana Aslan’s
geriatric treatment. It is a range created to have effects on the skin
that has aged prematurely or on time, but also on the skin which hasn’t
aged yet and wants to remain young.
2007 – Farmec brand is modernized and another important active principle is added to the initial one:
- The honey was combined with Calendula
- The green tea with Aloe Vera
- The almonds with Echinacea
- The coffee extract with the olive oil.
2008 – Farmec takes over the integral rights of use of the Gerovital brand.
Before 1989, Gerovital H3 brand, with the signature facsimile “prof. dr.
Ana Aslan” belonged entirely to the Romanian state, represented by the
Industrial Center of Cosmetic Medicine, Colorants and Lacquers. In 1992,
the successor of the former center transferred Gerovital H3 brand to
the two autochthonous manufacturers, accordingly to the products
marketed by them at that time. Thus, before concluding the present
agreement, the rights over Gerovital H3 brand were divided between
Farmec and Gerovital Cosmetics (Miraj).
The object of the transaction was the transmission of all rights
over the brands that comprise the words “Gerovital”, “Aslan”, “Ana
Aslan”, “GC” or their combinations from the Gerovital Cosmetics assets
to SC Farmec SA.
2009 – Aslavital Lift Instant brand is launched, the first cosmetic range based on the Gatuline-Clay complex, with instant wrinkle smoothing effect.
2010 – The year 2010 brought a new range of products on the market – Gerovital H3 Evolution.

with direct action: SOD, dubbed the “anti ageing super enzyme” (it is
the most active antioxidant enzyme of natural origin), the Trylagen
stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibers and GP4G,
which regenerates the skin from the inside.
In 2010 Gerovital Plant Treatment was also completed with 7 new products.
2011 – 2011 is the year of product launching. An entire series of products join the existing ones or change their appearance based on the market trends:
- Gerovital Plant
was modernized following the “green”, natural products trends,
presenting preservatives free formulas, with hypoallergenic perfume and
organic Edelweiss extract.
- Gerovital Sun range
has followed the same trend, its new formula being based on a
protective bio complex, rich in organic pomegranate oil or certified ECO
extract, parabens and oxybenzone free.
- Gerovital Body Slim
range is a completely new line of products. The 3 products, the Abdomen
Shaping Cream, the Thermic Slimming Cream and the Cryo Slimming Gel are
our allies in the fight for body shaping.
- The Mosquito and Insect repellent, the 10 shades of polish nails and the 5 types of liquid soaps also belong in the category of new products.
